2020.09.26 09:20 ABleachedCricket Soooo...

I played UNDERTALE for the first time 5 years ago. It was the true pacifist run and I completed the game after 2 weeks. Loved the hell out of the game, and I don’t even have to mention the soundtrack. But after a while I wanted to try the full genocide run, but it was simply too darn hard. I stopped the run after trying to fight undyne.
Now 3 years later I wanted to reexperience the game in a true pacifist run and it went swimmingly good. But here is were the problems come... flowery is not in the game. He is not at the start and Toriel just comes immediately. And at the end of my journey after the true pacifist run, he killed ashore but no dialogue when he takes all souls, he simply just say triple dots and the game ends with sans talking about what happened. And the game never continues. Why doe? Please help.
Ps: I play on Mac OS high Sierra late 2014, that computer has stopped supporting 32 bit apps. That makes steam unable to support the game I freaking payed for, but I have the files downloaded and the fame waiting at my desktop. I could make a true reset in the game files but then you guys will have to tell me how, I am don’t understand shit when I go though files.

2020.09.26 06:47 corsicanguppy hardware recommendations for multi-node own/nextcloud install

hey folks,
I'm looking to set up a 3-node (maybe more later) owncloud/nextcloud array. But I'm hoping for reliable hardware recommendations.
The plan - and correct that if you know better - is for a resilient photo storage for my mom, my spouse's mom and my photog nephew maybe, each with a bucket of photos. So Mom and stepmom have photos strewn about computers, macs, cryphones, droid phones, ipads; all the usual sprawly junk. The Neph will add in some cards and the usual storage that a photo-nut graphical-design prodigy will have laying around without backups.
I feel that if we have 3 nodes out in the world - mostly behind NAT routers and ISP 'arris' routers - we can maintain that holy trinity of backups in case any one unit cacks; but I can move to set one of them up as a VM and up-armour the storage a bit for good luck.
Really, I'm hoping to determine a few things:
Later - can we ad-hoc add a new replication peer if I sell the idea to my family in sweden, so that we have Vancouver, Halifax, Melbourne and now ~Stockholm replicating one another - can we easily plan a move to the activitypub/whatever is being used for the post-facebook decentralized sharing, so that I can convince myself we're somewhat future-proof since we can start sharing the photos on whatever torrent/zerotiepump thing emerges and eats the other candidates for the next sharing paradigm?
Okay, so that's where I'm going. I'd love to hear some favourite son/daughein-law is doing this RIGHT NOW, and it's super cheap, so I can ride their coat-tails to great victory and also become the favourite; but barring that I'll take the usual flood of everyone's favourite tools being bludgeoned into a new purpose. Please avoid docker-based solutions, though, as the only virtualization in scope today is ESXi-free.
Thanks for reading. Sorry if this is just so damned reposted and you have to kill it to save my nerd soul from the flames of an angry populace, and I appreciate if you need to, but I promise I thought the mixture and the hardware recommendation made it look novel to me.
Yes, I'm lazy. I could research all this myself, but I'm honestly hoping someone's gonna go "Yeah, fam, my synology HAI819278k fits that bill, and you get two and the OVA and link them up and bob's your uncle" or something because it's the internet and SOMEONE has to win that lottery ticket one day.

Account sales involve advertising advanced game accounts, and luring players eager to progress with tantalizing and unrealistic promises.

The risks surrounding account sales are:
The seller may take your money and never give you the account
You cannot be sure that the seller won't continue using the account
They may be selling the same account to multiple people
The account status is unknown; it could already be poised for permanent ban
The account will never be secure; Moonton cannot provide support for compromised accounts
If you choose to spend money on the account, it is still in danger of permanent closure due to breach of our ToS
Help stop this nasty practice by refusing to sell your account, and reporting those who do!

2020.09.24 01:19 Erutious For Your Talent

Ted looked at the number written on the paper, and his eyes grew large.
That was way more money than he made in a year, and this guy was offering it to him for…
"So, you want to pay me for...what, exactly?"
The man in the black suit stared at him, hollowly, from behind his mirrored glasses. He sat, nonchalantly, across the table at the small coffee shop Ted had written in for the last four years. Ted liked the ambiance here, and many other local writers seemed to think it was a great place to read as well. Tim could see many others around them, plinking away on their MacBooks or off the shelf Walmart laptops, as they wrote the next great American novel or the next hit screenplay.
The longer the man sat there, the more Ted wished he had approached one of them instead.
"It's straightforward," he said, his voice and cadence reminding Ted of Agent Smith in The Matrix movies, "we want to pay you for your talents. You come to our office, let us see your Talent, and pay you for your time and effort. Sound like something you might be interested in?"
Then he smiled, his lips sliding away from his perfectly artificial teeth, and Ted cringed all over.
It was like a dog who's been taught to smile, unsettling, and a little alarming.
But it was a lot of money.
"Let me think about it." Ted hedged, and the smile slid mechanically from the man's face.
He produced a business card, rising suddenly and holding it out.
"Let us know if you change your mind. The offer is valid whenever you're ready."
He left then, making his way for the door like a shark hunting his next meal.
Ted looked at the card and wrinkled his eyebrows.
It was a plain white business card, nothing fancy, with the words, "Libras Talent. Because your Talent should never go to waste."
Ted looked at it for a while as his laptop screen went into sleep mode, darkening and allowing him to see himself as he sat in contemplation.
How very curious.
Ted had been writing in some form or another for his whole life.
When he was a child, he drew pictures and created games for his friends to play. Ted's pictures, his mother swore, always told a story, and his games were never the haphazard mess that his friends often concocted. People who weren't even part of Ted's friend circle often came to join their games, as they were both fun and engaging in a way that was hard for a child to explain. His teachers praised his creativity and expected they would see great things from him someday.
As Ted grew, so grew his stories. By the time he was in middle school, Ted's works of fantasy were often entered into writing contests, and local student works projects. His playground games had evolved into role play games, and when Ted was twelve, he discovered the fantasy world of Dungeons and Dragons. This began a lifelong love affair with the game, and he took to the role of game master quickly. Ted's campaigns were immersive, his characters engaging, and his adventures never fell victim to the usual problems his friends seemed to encounter. Ted wrote well and, again, the adults in his life often praised him, expecting great things from him in the future.
It was a no brainer for Ted to study writing after high school. He had soared through what is normally a very trying time for teens by channeling his churning emotions into his medium. Ted had gotten more than one scholarship for his writing, and as college loomed, he put all his efforts into his work. Ted spent the next four years working on a BA in English and Literature, and in the end, he felt I had the expected tools to begin plying his craft professionally.
Now, Ted was trying to figure out how to turn that Talent into a paycheck so that he could pay his bills. Magazines liked his work but wanted writers with more experience. There were people online who would pay for stories, but not enough to live off of. Agents were interested, but they didn't want to take a chance on someone so young. Ted's writing was always well received, but there was always the ever-present But hanging at the end of all that praise. A few "Interested Publishers had approached him," but it was always the sort that buried the line of price amidst all that talk. Ted was twenty-six, four years out of college, self-published, untried, and no one was willing to take a chance on him.
Everyone, except Libras Talent, that is.
Ted Googled them, of course. He had been burned too many times before and wanted to see what was in store if he decided to take their offer. Their website was professional but soulless. Their credentials were numerous but were presented without any real pride. This soulless corporation wanted another book for their accolades, another pet writer for their trophy case. If Ted signed on with them, he would be just another soules shill who writes for nothing but a paycheck.
Ted's phone buzzed. He looked down and sighed as he saw a message from the power company. His check had bounced again, and they were going to shut his power off at the end of the month without some kind of immediate action. That likely meant that Mr. Kapish, his boss at the gas station, had given them bad checks again. He would never admit it, and this likely meant that Ted wouldn't get paid until the end of the month.
He looked at the card.
Or maybe he'd be able to keep the lights on after all.
He nervously checked his phone to make sure he had come to the right place. He had come to a flat looking building, a two-story white stucco building that looked more like a distribution center than a publishing house. Ted had worn his best interview clothes, a polo, and a pair of slacks, and he already felt underdressed and unsure about the situation. The outer facade bore a simple sign, white and stark, just like the business card.
Libras Talent
Ted thought about leaving, but the call of the money was too much to resist.
The woman behind the counter wore a similar smile as he walked inside. She was looking at the door, as though expecting him, and her pants suit and quaffed hair made her look assembled rather than styled. Ted was taken aback by her smiling regard, and he almost left. The waiting area was as stark as the facade, and the receptionist regard made him feel like he was marked.
Had she been staring at the door the whole time, just waiting for someone to come in?
"Hi," Ted said, "I'm looking for…"
"Welcome, Mr. Dreff. Mr. Sereph is waiting for you in the back. Please go right ahead.
She pointed to a door to the left of the waiting room, and Ted walked hesitant towards it, his strange feeling growing with every step.
Beyond the door was a long hallway of offices, names neatly printed on the doors. Mr. Sereph's office was the third in line.
Ted knocked, and a voice from the other side invited him in.
Mr. Sereph sat behind his desk, the too-wide smile stretching his lips painfully.
"Mr. Dreff, I'm so glad you decided to accept my generous offer."
Ted sat across from the grinning man, feeling like Faust as he met with the devil.
"It was too good a deal to pass up, I suppose," Ted said
"Why yes, the money is a fine incentive, isn't it?"
Ted shuffled in his seat, not liking the man's regard.
"So, how does this work exactly? Do I have to write something for you or…"
Ted blinked as a contract appeared on the desk. Mr. Sereph was leaning over the desk, that too wide smile stretching his face, as he handed Ted a heavy silver pen. Had that contract been there the whole time? Td sat back a little, the too-wide smile putting him off a little as the man leered at him.
"What's wrong? I thought you were ready to sign?"
"I am, but I'm curious to know what this involves?" Ted asked.
"You show us your Talent, and we pay you for you. Couldn't be simpler."
Ted looked at the contract, unsure of whether to sign or not. He'd heard of writers getting sucked into these unfair contracts before. He didn't fancy being kept as someone's pet writer; his Talent milked for god knew what. Ted looked down at the contract, but it wasn't particularly helpful either. They offered to pay him for his "Talent," but that was all it really said. It was very vague, not really saying anything other than that, with a lot of industry, speak in between.
As Ted hesitated, though, the money loomed up in his mind again. That was a lot of money, enough to live comfortably for quite a while if he was careful. No matter what they had him do, that kind of money could change his life. And even if it were repetition or degrading, he'd still be doing what he loved, right?
Ted signed the contract and pushed it back to the smiling man.
Mr. Sereph made it disappear before the ink seemed to be dry, and Ted was left holding the bulky silver pin in numb fingers.
"Excellent, now come with me so we can access your talent."
Mr. Sereph rose from the desk and led him out of the office. Ted followed wordlessly, still not quite sure what was expected of him. The long corridor slid past as they walked, the sameness a little disorienting.
Mr. Sereph stopped outside another nondescript door and held it open for Ted. Inside was a stark white room, cluttered only by a desk and a pen held in one of those ornate holders you often saw at weddings. Mr. Sereph nodded to the desk, indicating that he should sit.
"What do you want me to do?" Ted asked, still hovering in the doorway.
Ted wasn't sure he wanted to enter that unblemished space.
"Just take up the pen; it will know what to do from there." Mr. Sereph said, still grinning that troubling smile.
Ted hesitated a moment longer before walking inside, the door slamming like a coffin lif behind him.
Ted took a seat. On the desk was a single piece of paper, unblemished, and as he looked at it, he could swear that the surface moved. He didn't want to touch it, but it seemed to beckon him to none the less. He reached out for the pen, that instrument of creation, and it felt very right in his hand as he lifted it from the holder. He set the tip against the paper, and, again, he thought it moved. What was he meant to do here? What was he meant to write? Show them his Talent? How was he meant to do…
The pen came down on the paper, its tip blotting the surface as though through magnetism. Suddenly, Ted was writing. He was writing words, crafting stories, spilling ideas as the paper drank them down before his eyes. He spilled days, weeks, years worth of stories onto the pape as he wrote. His hand cramped, and his wrist ached, but still, the merciless pen took his words. The paper drank greedily, swelling as he worked. Ted's vision swam as he felt his words dragged out of him, sucked from his body, and he felt certain that he must die.
The paper swelled as he wrote, becoming sheets, a novel, a towering juggernaut of pages. The room began to fill with pages, pressing against the ceiling and bulging against the walls. Ted was powerless to stop his hand from writing, but soon the pages began to block out the lights, and he wrote in a state of darkness. The pages pressed at him from all sides, entombing him in the written word, but still, he wrote.
When he finally passed out, it was a blessing.
Ted woke up in his bed. His arm throbbed, the fingers and hand feeling like rubber, but when he tried to move it, he found it asleep. He shook at it, thinking about the weird dream he had just woken up from. He had written himself into a literal tomb, and as he looked at his arm, he almost thought he could see small blisters on his fingers. He sat down at his computer, looking through his emails for job offers when he came across a new email from Libras Talent. He thought it a strange coincidence that he had been dreaming about them, and now they were sending him a message, but he figured they wanted to make him another offer for his Talent, whatever that meant.
He opened it and read through the email, confused as he read over the contents.
Dear Mr. Dreff
We would like to thank you again for your Talent. Please find enclosed the payment for your Talent, and we hope you are satisfied with your transaction.
Regards Mr. D Sereph
Ted read the email repeatedly before opening the app on his phone linked to his bank account. Ted's eyes went wide when he saw the amount in his account. He goggled at it in disbelief. It hasn't been a dream, after all. He had sold his Talent he guessed. Ted grinned as he took thought of the possibilities. Mr. Sereph had been right.
This amount of money could be life-changing.
Ted sighed as he stepped back through the door of his apartment. He had been on a two-week vacation to the Bahamas, spent those weeks in the lap of luxury, and still hasn't made a dent in the amount of money Mr. Sereph had put in his bank account. It was a sobering feeling, being able to do whatever you wanted, living a life few even dreamed of.
Now he was back, though, and he supposed it was time to get back to work.
The money was nice, but it wouldn't last forever.
The news feed on his computer pinged to let him know that one of his favorite authors had just released a new book. Ted opened the link to look at the book but felt a surge of confusion as he read over the synopsis. It was a new novel, not like anything he'd ever written before. A world of high fantasy, a tale of adventure set in the world of Erudar, where the lord of the hunt sought the princess of…
Ted was astonished. That was his story! He had been fleshing that concept out for years, and his manuscript was almost ready for submission. He had been so close to sending it off...well, maybe in a couple of years, he would have. He just had to be sure that it was ready before he just sent it off like that.
The manuscript.
Ted had the manuscript saved on Google docs! Ted furiously opened the browser, putting in his information as he brought up his account. It would be time-stamped, dated. He could take it to the proper people and prove that his work had been stolen. He couldn't believe that something like this would happen to him. He had read about this sort of thing happening online, but he never dreamed that it would happen to him. It was unthinkable, it was impossible, it was…
His google doc profile was empty.
The screen was devoid of content.
He pulled open the drawer next to his desk, searching desperately for the thumb drives I kept as a backup.
The drawer was empty.
Ted searched his computer for traces of his manuscript, stories, and anything, but it had all been erased.
Ted had begun to panic then. What was happening? Someone had been in his apartment. Someone had stolen his work. Someone had taken his….
His Talent.
Ted combed through his emails, searching for the email from Sereph.
It, too, was gone, nowhere to be found.
It was as though he had never spoken with anyone.
He found Mr. Sereph after the third week of staking out the coffee shop. He had gone down to the building that had been Libras Talent, but the building had been abandoned. The doors were locked, the sign removed, and the building looked empty and forlorn. It had been too big an operation to simply close up overnight. He had asked the people in the buildings around them, but all of them only shook their heads, saying they didn't know anything about a talent agency or a publishing house. That was when he had taken to staking out the coffee shop. The place was always packed, and if Sereph was looking for other writers to swindle, he might come back here. He had brought his laptop the first few times but had stopped after the first week. He was too distracted to write these days, after finding out his life's work had been stolen, and all he thought about was having his work returned to him. He'd spent the last three weeks drinking coffee and keeping his eyes peeled. He arrived when the place opened and didn't leave until the final customer had shuffled out.
It was just after sunset on a Tuesday when he found him.
"What we're looking for is your talent."
Ted swung his head around sharply. The man was at an adjoining table, talking to a blond girl that Ted had seen hanging around lately. She was working on a screenplay it seemed, working hard it seemed, and it seemed she had gained the interest of Libras Talent. She looked over the business card and told him she'd think about it before leaving in a hurry. The man sat for a moment, watching her leave, before turning to look at Ted.
"Mr. Dreft, I hear you've been looking for me."
Ted jumped, not yet sure what he would say, as Mr. Sereph came sauntering over to his table. He sat in the empty seat that too wide smile still making Ted cringe. He took a sip of the cold cup of coffee Ted had left there and seemed to be waiting for Ted to speak, but Ted still wasn't sure how to begin this encounter. In his head, Ted had always been indignant, downright angry, but now, as he stared into that too-wide smile, he felt unsure of what he was doing.
"I assume that you're here to talk about your Talent. I must say, when it hit the bestseller list, I was shocked. I suppose we could reassess your price if you're looking for more money."
That lit the fire in Ted again.
"I want to know exactly what the hell you think you're doing. You break into my apartment, steal my work, clean out my hard drive, and just think you can bribe me with more…"
"I did none of those things." Mr. Sereph said with a roll of his eyes, "We paid you for your Talent. Your Talent was writing, and we paid you for it. You signed a contract and were compensated handsomely."
"Wait...you mean you paid me for my stories?"
Sereph scoffed, "Stories? Mr. Dreff, have you tried to write since you woke up in your bed?"
Ted thought about it. Had he written anything for the past two weeks? Felt compelled to write anything? He had signed his name to a few things, maybe written a text message or two, but other than that, he hasn't written so much as a sentence creatively. He had been having so much fun that the need hasn't arisen, and that should have been weird too. The writing was what Ted did. Without it, his life was…
"That's right. You sold us your Talent, rather cheaply too. But, your kind usually does. You cut your goose open too quickly and find nothing as valuable as what you had."
"So, what is Libres Talent? You sell ideas to other writers?"
Sereph scoffed, "Ideas? You're still thinking too small. Do you think that Talent is something that just lasts forever? Talent is a finite resource. It flows and ebbs. Some people are lucky enough to have a large tidal pool, but some people have to buy their Talent to supplement. Libres Talent finds those in need of Talent, literary, athletic, political, what have you, and we get Talent for them."
Ted's blood ran cold.
"So...I'll never write again?"
Mr. Sereph looked a little sad, "Sorry, kiddo, it looks like you'll just have to live like all these other talentless shlubs. But, hey, if you ever decide you want to buy some talent, do keep in touch."
He left a business card on the table and made his way out.
Ted just sat there, hearing the click of the keyboard and the creation of raw ideas, and put his head in his hands.

2020.09.24 01:18 Erutious For Your Talent

2020.09.23 18:43 Ineedhelponmac Best way to deal with 10-20 Mac OS in professional environment

\If you are in a hurry go directly to the question section**
Hello everyone ! I've come with a question and I hope some kind soul will be able to bring me an answer :)
Context :
I'm currently working at a small company as the sole IT guy and I have to do basically everything in term of system administration even though I'm not a sysadmin.
Most of my users are on Windows 10 so I deal with them with Windows server, as I said before I'm not a real sysadmin but I know windows and don't have an issue with this part.
I have about 10 iMac and macbooks to deal with atm (Designers job). I never used a mac before working here but I'm open to any learning experience and I've set up every mac like I've wanted to but only manually. I can't administrate anything remotely, push scripts etc...
The issue :
The company is growing and as such I'll soon have to deal with close to 20 device on MacOs. Meaning I'll need to set up 10 mac again and every time there is something new (Like a new printer) I have to go on every single device to configure the new printer.
10 devices are already too time consuming, computers configuration is supposed to be only a small part of my job and I'm starting to drown.

The question :
Is there something that I can setup to administrate MacOS devices just like I would with windows server ?
My needs would be :
- Centralized admin account (Right now I have a local admin account on every mac with the same password but I had to leak it due to covid and I'm changing it manually but it's taking time).
- Small settings that I can configure just like I would with a GPO on a windows server like new printers or wifi password.
- Domain user administration (Right now my mac users are in my AD domain but I need to convert their network account to mobile one manually and my domain admin user has not admin rights on the macOS devices).
- Push new apps to all MacOS devices.
- Centralize MacOS and Apps updates.

I don't have budget restriction on the product that I will use but it'll have to stay within appropriate limits obviously (I can't ask for a 5000$/month license for only 20 devices, better hire someone that will only do that).

Thanks a lot for reading all this and for any advice you could give me.

Have a nice day !

EDIT : Thanks a lot everyone for your advice and feedback ! I'll check the various solutions offered to me and I will certainly find something useful.

2020.09.06 08:37 x_caliberVR I made a list of all VorpX Supported Games (to turn 'flat' games into 3D/VR games), with direct links to them on Steam.

In what is probably the least useful thing I've ever done, I made a list from VorpX's site's 'Supported Games' section (https://www.vorpx.com/supported-games/) and found as many of the games listed as I could over on Steam, and have linked to them here for your review. There were a few I couldn't find, but if anyone has a link to one of those not found on Steam, share it with me and I'd be happy to update the list.
(I should also probably point out that I do not work for VorpX, this is not a sponsored post - just something I figured VR gamers might enjoy, since it broadens the library of VR games they probably already have.)
I hope this helps anyone interested in finding some new games, or maybe adding some replayability to an old favorite. I know I'm pretty lazy and so unless something is put directly in front of me, I usually won't go out of my way to check it out.

I hope this helps anyone interested in finding some new games, or maybe adding some replayability to an old favorite. I know I'm pretty lazy and so unless something is put directly in front of me, I usually won't go out of my way to check it out.

2020.09.01 06:11 cloudseapiratequeen RPGs with deep systems and mechanics (Switch, iPad Pro, OS X)

I’m looking for an RPG that is primarily single player and has deep mechanics. I’m not totally against multiplayer games but I can’t really commit to play sessions with people and my hours are erratic.
My Mac is mostly for work but it’s a newer computer and can play some stuff. I’d prefer a game on my iPad or Switch. I’ll hook a controller up to my iPad if need be but I’d also be into something slower and more methodical, turn based, or just whatever. The one thing I am not looking for is a f2p game with in-app purchases. I’d prefer a real game with a normal price, so iOS ports and all Switch titles are on the table.
When it comes to setting, I’m into any kind of RPG. I don’t mine anime aesthetics or anything like that. I just want to play something that I can put a lot of time into and get very involved in. I like games where I can tinker and customize and explore options. I want to be able to be able to play with skill trees and customize characters. I wanna really get into something. I wouldn’t mind a tactics RPG, JRPG, action RPG...
I don’t play a lot of RPGs so I’m open to even more obvious suggestions. Not into Pokémon. Some of my favorite RPGs are:
Vagrant Story, Diablo 2, Path of Exile, Guild Wars 1, FFXI, FFXII, Dark Souls, Monster Hunter (it counts for the purpose of telling what I like), Bravely Default (I love the jobs system even if it’s not very deep), Persona 3/4/5
I know Square Enix has ported a lot to iOS. I’m kind of eyeing Valkyrie Profile and War of the Lions on there, but I don’t know if they’re good ports. I’d also love to hear other options.
As for Switch, no clue where to even start. Is Fire Emblem deep from a gameplay perspective? I haven’t played Disgaea since the original, but I see the Switch has a few of them. Then there’s other big options like DQXI, Octopath Traveler (this isn’t what I’m looking for is it?), and Xenoblade Chronicles (would I be better off with the remaster or the sequel?)
I do want to say that a good story is nice but not enough for me. It’s like a little bonus. I’m just as fine with no story, but I can get into a good one.

2020.08.31 01:22 Imhotep0 Call of the Mountain Discord event AMA: Riot responses

Hello friends! I read through all the responses from the Riot AMA on discord a few hours ago, collated and formatted them here for you all who didn't see them on discord. I cut out some of the preamble "Hey i love the game", "Thanks for the question" stuff but other than that I'm pretty sure everything is here, but I might have missed one or two so if I have, I apologise :(
4 wonderful Rioters took part: @DanCast, @Dovagedys, @Bearly Leah and @Careless Whisper. Thank you all for your time answering the questions!

Do you sometimes go around reddit or other media platforms to create new ideas for a card?

DanCast: We go around LoR player communities on reddit and elsewhere quite often, not for new card ideas specifically, but to understand what players are liking and not liking about the game. Better understanding people's impressions and desires factor into what we make in the future more broadly.

What was the process like play testing for the balance of this segment of the Targon release year, specifically the new region of Targon itself? Was Targon created holistically then segmented, or has development and balancing always been aware and aiming for the current style of a segmented release for the region? As the only other region expansion we’ve seen so far, Bilgewater seems like it could have been wildly different in terms of both thematic resonance and balance if it and the other original 6 regions new champions added in Rising Tides had been separated into segments. And if Targon was originally created holistically do you think the segmented release will make balancing harder going forward, as some card synergies or natural archetype counters have already been developed, but not yet released?

Dovagedys: It's a complicated question with a complicated answer. Ultimately, we know we want to be able to provide new cards to everyone at a satisfying cadence. Originally, we had planned to release new cards every 4 months, but over this past 6 months we quickly realized that is not fast enough. We wanted to move to a two month cadence, but most of the work for Targon and the region that comes after Targon had already been done. We definitely did extensive play testing and balance work on each segment. We believe that all three releases bring new things to the game and are fun to play.

Your favourite Colour?

Dovagedys: Purple
Leah: Purple or blue

I am a huge fan of designing custom cards in just about all the card games I play, and some card games are very transparent with their design philosophies. While I understand LoR is a much newer game than some of those games and thus might have less nailed down in the way of philosophy; we saw relatively recently some of the design process outlined in your "From Champ Select to Your Deck" Article. For those of us who either wish to design custom content, or for those who might one day wish to apply to work for LoR as a designer, would it be possible to get many more articles in the same vein as that one? I feel as though many of the designing/custom group would love to hear what goes into the game and what considerations/values you have for each Region.

Whisper: Great question, and I'm glad to hear the previous articles were helpful. More articles on design and our design process is definitely on the list of to do. Knowing what things y'all are interested in learning more about helps us a ton!

when can I expect the other league champs with tails to be added to this game? I know you likely can't answer this but I can dream. [This was asked by someone with the discord name @TailLover :D]

DanCast: What about a champion that sometimes has a tail?

LoR's coding and way of handling various effects such as card positioning and sequencing is really fascinating. However I'm curious just how much is easily able to be modified/used for card design. For ex; Hypothetically speaking is it possible to reference the opponent's username in a levelup animation? For example with a champion say Pyke and The List?

DanCast: The tech team tells me it's harder than you'd think. We had a cosmetic concept where we wanted to put your game name on the cosmetic but we decided it wasn't going to be viable.

Hello Rioters! Thanks for helping us. Following the balance patches this summer, and the release of COTM are yall considering rexamining the presence of Aggro/Combo in the game? So far it seems that these new tools empower midrange and value stradegy in a great degree, but dont seem to have any new threats to keep them in check. Thanks!

Dovagedys: The release of Targon is still very young. I think there are still a lot of evolutions and learnings to come as people explore and the meta evolves. We are constantly evaluating the meta and working hard to ensure a healthy and diverse play experience. We want players to be able to play all kinds of decks and be able to have fun and find success. If we notice certain decks over performing we will continue our efforts to tone down cards that are overbearing and pushing other options out of the meta, as well as, buffing cards that can encourage more decks that are under represented.

Any chance of getting long term profile stats like matches played, lifetime number of 7-win Expeditions trials, the ratio of achieving 7-wins per expedition attempts etc., so I can finally prove to my friends I’m the Expedition king of LOR? Any fun stats in general or fun personal stats you keep track of behind the scenes on individual profiles you could one day share? (Numbers of Poro’s summoned?)

DanCast: Yes, we believe a player profile that contains some type of match history plus a record of feel-good stats/achievements like this is a great feature and something that provides a social foundation for seeing what other players are up to - what they pursue and accomplish. It's something we will be working on.

What is your least favorite card and why is it so?

Leah: I have a hard time playing around Ledros. It's silly but I always forget about him and then die to him! D:

About Taric's ability: Why did you "nerf" his interaction with Playful Triclster day 1? The Rube Goldberg Judgement + Challenger + Rally + Big dude is intended or will it somehow be patched out? Is his interaction w Assembly Bot intended? (He gets +1 towards the lv up if you Assembly bot on field with non-targetted spells)

Dovagedys: We knew about the Taric + Playful Trickster combo and originally intended to have it go live with Call of the Mountain. However, after some discussion among game design, play test team, and game play leadership we decided that the opponent's experience was potentially too unfun. We want to ensure that both players are having fun in our game. Losing isn't very fun, but unavoidable in a 1v1 game. However, losing slowly and being stuck in a trapped game is very unfun and avoidable. We want games that have a clear winner to end very quickly and the Taric + Playful Trickster combo had high potential to lead to games where 1 player had no mana and no actions to take, but would be forced to click OK repeatedly while Taric slowly attacked them to death. That sounds like a terrible experience and we wanted to protect players from being forced into situations like it.

I've read that LoR was planned to be available on multiple platforms (mostly mobile) very early on in the development. Was there any particular difficulty in porting the code over to mobile clients, or did you simultaniously code all the different builds at the same time? Furthermore, was there a Mac client planned that was scrapped due to the "App store streaming" MacOS has planned, or was that never a consideration?

Leah: We built the code from the beginning to prepare for mobile - so that helped us a lot being aware of budgeting needs, especially on low end devices. Certain things, like trying to constrain ourselves to memory budgets per asset (such as texture), and running memory tests per build help us know if we're exceeding our mobile limits.
This is has been pretty beneficial over making it for PC then going to mobile, as we had less fixing to do for mobile launch.

How do you decide which champions to add to each expansion? Is it more based on popularity, or how much they could bring to the game?

Whisper: Huge caveat that this will usually vary from expansion to expansion. Generally the process is we look at which champions best represent the region and can show off exciting mechanics or themes. Then we look at a swath of things like champ popularity, cool lore moments we want to expand on between champions, overall tone of the set, etc.

Seeing as there are only so many regions from Map of Runeterra not implemented in game (with 2 new regions a year), what would you do when there are no regions to implement?

Dovagedys: Right now, our plan is to focus on 10 regions in runeterra. As of Call of the Mountain we have 8.

Do you have a clear vision on what you would do once you will run out of regions to add?

Dovagedys: Yes. We have a clear plan for content that comes after our last 2 regions are introduced to the game. Unfortunately, we can't discuss future content right now, but in some cases we work on content up to 2 years before it's released.

Some other card games have taken their main characters and placed them in different colors or classes? Is this something we could see once we have all the champions in game/we need champions in less populated regions? For example Yasuo and Ahri are currently heading to Bilgewater, would we hypothetically see a Yasuo in Ionia and A Yasuo in Bilge at the same time?

Dovagedys: We have some fun ideas for how we could potentially shift champions to regions players may not initially associate the champion. However, right now we are focused on getting as many champions from League into LOR as possible.

League of Legends is well known for it's incredibly diverse range of Alternate Universes and Skins. Just recently we had a Spirit Blossom event syncronized with the LoL event at the saem time. Judging from the new render of SBYasuo, alot of us were expecting some sort of premium version of Yasuo such as a skin for the card. Seeing as that obviously didn't happen, what is the team's stance on skins for cards? Perhaps with new VO/FX/Levelup Animations?

DanCast: We have loved bringing some of the alternate fantasies to LoR through our current cosmetic products. Card cosmetics will be in LoR's future, but we're taking our time to put our best foot forward on it, including some player studies.
We have to think a lot about would players rather SB Yasuo be a skin or SB Yasuo be a new card with it's own flavor and abilities? Are there some fantasies we should do as cosmetics and others we should do new cards - can we do it both ways and have it be clear to players? That's what we think about.
Let us know your thoughts on the boards!

Hi all! Bit of a technical curiosity: in open beta, there was a bug that allowed a player to cast Spinning Axe discarding a card that was "about" to be discarded by another effect such as shown here. What was the source of this bug? Was the game engine tied to UI somehow?

Leah: That's a fun one! Disclosure I didn't work on this bug, and I don't work on gameplay itself. But from speculation my guess would be that while the card was marked for delete, there was a time in cleanup while the animation was playing that it was still clickable, and was not marked as discarded until the animation ended. So not as much to do with UI as a timing issue.

The video containing the roadmap for future content (e.g. the addition of Labs, Gauntlet, the Event) was super awesome. Is there another one like that planned? When should we expect it?

DanCast: Yes there's one being planned now. Don't expect it too soon, but we want some way to talk about the end of the year with all of you. I hope the video works out

Are there any super crazy mechanics or cards you wanted to implement into the game but scratched in the end? I'm thinking of stuff like the chicken that deals 1 damage when you hover it in Hearthstone, things that are just simply bizarre :D

Dovagedys: There are a ton of designs that the team tries that don't make it to be released. Sometimes they aren't fun, sometimes we can't balance them, or sometimes they don't fit well with the rest of the release. In general, we try not to discuss these ideas publicly too often, because we may decide to use them in a future release and we don't want to spoil the surprise.

This question is completely unrelated to this game, so I’m not sure if you guys can even answer this. I’ll be finishing my 4th year of college studying cyber security this spring. I’m still trying to figure out what sort of work I’d even want to do, but I’m just curious if you guys know of any opportunities at Riot Games? Or if there’s someone I could contact regarding this? I checked the site and don’t see any opening for security jobs currently, but did see you have a bug bounty program.

Leah: We do have teams that work in security. So it's something available, even if the position isn't open now. I would definitely work on putting together something demonstrable of your skill, portfolio/Github/etc, so when the time comes you'd be ready!

How does the team view the Spirit Blossom event? Was it a success? What were the major learnings from it, and do more events in the future seem likely?

DanCast: We do view it as a success - and our post-event player surveys showed you all liked it too! The main we want to improve from the learnings is the Quest/Win of the Day system. We want to emphasize the win of the day less, and instead have more progress come from have a more distributed cadence of quests throughout the event (not all up front). As well has have the quests be less specific (I know how you feel about challenge 100 units) On the rewards: we saw players want less shards on the event road, and some new more interesting rewards instead, so we're going to work on that.

The art and lore of LoR have been amazing! How do you choose which statline/effect goes with each art/flavor?

Whisper: Great question! During development design works closely with narrative and art to create the art with the statline and effects of the card. So it's less of "choosing" and more creating them together as one complete coherent piece. This will often mean chatting about the theme of the character, what is important about their stat line or effect, and how to best represent those mechanics in the art.

I do love alot of the cosmetics currently available in the game (Guardians, Cardbacks and Boards) Can I hear some more about future upcoming cosmetics that aren't in those categories and more ways to sink my bank account?

DanCast: But you don't love emotes?? Why can't I Jinx OMG reaction in this slack?

There seems to be many cards that seem like they are supposed to be attachted to currently unreleased champions. Is there a reason for releaseing these cards and will you be doing any else like this in the future?

Dovagedys: Cards connections in LOR are a complex network of interactions. There are many cards that are designed for specific champions, but can end up working in past, present, and future decks. We try to release cards together that we think will be the most fun and create the most interesting interactions. And we think it's fun to allude to what could be potentially coming in the future. Yes we will continue to do so in the future.

How Happy were you with the meta before the expansion hit, were you satisfied with the variety of decks played?

Dovagedys: I am extremely proud of LOR's meta since the launch of our game. Before we launched we had a goal of having a metagame that had 10 decks. And we knew that was a lofty goal. However, since the launch of LOR we have repeatedly seen metagames that have 20, 25, 30, and up to 35 different decks that are competitively viable. I am completely blown away by the metagame diversity in LOR's meta game and excited to see it continue to evolve over time.

Just like almost everyone else I love the emotes! So much personality in them and conveys really fun emotions. Especially with how rapidly new emotes are being added are there plans to allow for more emotes to be 'equipped' for a match? And of course which 8 emotes are you running now?

DanCast: Wait...are you hacking to run 8 emotes?
Yes, I would love for everyone to have more emote access. We want this, but we want to build a lot of things, so it comes down to deciding our priorities on what delivers the most player value. There may be a time where we have to work on a related feature, so an opportunity to adjust this will come up. My ideal would be an intuitive UI that's fast to use on mobile where a player could access all their emotes.
My current fav 6: Not Sure If, Wink, Cheers, Sweating, Into My Trap, and (of course) Obliteration

What was the hardest card from targon to code? Is it some card we've already seen or is it one yet to come?

Dovagedys: Taric has definitely been the most complicated card to code in Call of the Mountain.

When you're not working on LoR things, what games do you like to play? Mostly card games or do you sink your time into games completely different than the ones you work on?

Leah: I play a lot of League of Legends / Overwatch as well. I also love party games to play with friends and platformers, metroidvanias and rhythm games galore. Some of my favorite games are the Ori series, Super Mario Sunshine, Dance Dance Revolution and Beat Saber!

Some players can feel really bad when opponents are able to draw from the top of their deck (although this isn't in my opinion, an issue, but it can be considered something that inherently feels worse than your opponent drawing from the bottom of your deck). Other things that can make a game feel bad are long animations, slow draw speed, etc. I'm sure there are a ton of other things you all do to make the game feel clean and smooth to play (UI), how you can customize your own boards, guardians, etc that make it feel more like "you", along with game mechanics that feel fair. I'm happy for any answer at all! Mostly I'm impressed at how much attention to detail has been given to making the game feel really good to play as often as possible, and wondering how you work out what's working in those areas, what isn't, and what you'd like to improve.

Dovagedys: We have a lot of great plans for LOR in the future. We have worked hard to build a great foundation for the game, but this is only the beginning. Ultimately, the ideas we choose to deliver to make LOR feel better will come from the community. We want to listen and learn from you all to help us choose the improvements that you all want. I think one of the most special parts about the LOR team is how dedicated everyone on the team is to listening to players and learning how to make the game better for everyone.
DanCast: The best way to encapsulate it is the LoR team is made up of Rioters who really care deeply about the player experience and are detailed oriented and very creative at their problem solving. I'm honored to work everyone on this team.

What's the basis for your card design in terms of power level? Do you ever just think of a card and say "this card is too strong/weak" and how do you tune it to the level at which it feels juuuust right?

Whisper: Generally when it comes to power level of a have a design we ask ourselves 2 questions. Is this card sensible given the rest of the cards? If not, are there numbers (cost, power, health, effect output) where this could be a sensible card.
As for how we decide what sensible is, it's a lot of playtesting, feedback, and evaluating other cards that do similar things.

the enemy Aurelion Sol transform the allie celestials cards into 0 mana cost,is it a bug?

Dovagedys: The interaction of Aurelion Sol level 2 reducing cost of opponent's cards was a bug. We released a fixed for that bug shortly after the release of Call of the Mountain.

Hi id like to say im a huge fan of LoR im wondering what guardian you all like the most personally for me its cosmo :3

Dovagedys: Personally, my favorite guardian is Von Yipp, but it's really hard to choose because there are so many awesome guardians. And I'm excited for upcoming guardians that will become my new favorites

How much of my soul do I have to give you guys to get a spoiler to show during next spoiler season?

DanCast: How could your soul be used to provide players value? I mean if you're going to try to bribe a Rioter, do it with something that we can give back to the players.
(Thanks for being cool with this trolling)

Hi Leah :> You mentioned you don't work on the gameplay parts of the game! As someone who has no idea of what software engineers do, would you mind describing which parts of the endproduct you've been working on?

Leah: I do metagame work, on DanCast's team! So Events, onboarding, rewards, quests, end of game are the types of things my team touches. We work to make sure the "out of game" experience feels good to interact with too. There's also plenty of other engineering teams too! Such as those who work to keep our build pipelines running smoothly. And they're all essential to getting LoR out to players

One of the best parts about Legends of Runeterra are the amazing animations we see with many cards, even if they aren't champions. The recent expansion especially is incredible and very beautiful with all the designs and animations. Anyways, what's your favorite pizza topping?

Leah:Pineapple and ham Pepperoni! I'm simple but it's delicious. Also I eat the crust of my pizza first.

Would you consider diversifying the rewards in gauntlets? Because the current icon rewards are granted for the first play/win and then the mode is usually ignored by most players until a new mode/format arrives.

DanCast: Yes, but we're working on rewards that we think will be a better fit and can be more extensible than icons. Be on the watch for one of those future Dev videos to learn more (again, not too soon)

Could you guys already be planning/working on champions cards that are not found in League of Legends?

Dovagedys: we often talk about making new champions that don't exist in League of Legends, but right now we are focused on introducing as many champions from League into LOR as we can. There are over 140 champions in League of Legends and LOR doesn't have 1/3 of them yet.

Do you plan to give support to older archetypes like sea monsters and scouts in current(cotm) and future expansions?

Whisper: We do! Part of future content design is not just expansion of older regions, but also how to add to the archetypes already present.

My question is whether or not there is a plan to add in a spectate mode?

Dovagedys: We are planning to release a spectate mode in the future. I don't think we have given an exact date yet.

When LoR was finally released, was there a sick underground techno party with Poro DJs? How did you celebrate - if at all?

DanCast: LoR released under shelter in place here in LA (and in our international locations), so we ordered some desserts on DoorDash and played online games together. The poro DJs were all booked for LoR's Korean ad team

How did you join Riot, and what made you want to join Riot?

Leah: I was playing League since 2012, and that initially piqued my interest in Riot. I volunteered at a GDC (Game Development Conference) while I was in college and met a bunch of Rioters there. They were all really nice and that really made me want to join :). I graduated in 2017, and started working at another game company in Massachusetts. In 2018 Riot hit me up and after a bunch of interviews I joined!

Do you have pets, and if so, what kind, and most importantly can I pet them?

Leah: I have 2 dogs, Jax and Leo. Not only can you pet them, but they demand pets. This post not sponsored by dogs

Kind of the reverse of a previously asked question - have you designed any cards or will you design any cards soon, knowing they will be champions in the future?

DanCast: We don't have a handshake with LoL for anything like that at the moment, but we aspire to create interesting characters for the world of Runeterra that other teams can pick up and use if they wish. We just hope players love what is put out, and maybe if there's someone the community loves, they could be seen in another game or video or comic or such

I have a question: Are the cards like the Startled Stomper Zoe's creation? (if not hers, is it a creation from her friends?)

Dovagedys: I'm not sure if Zoe creates them or transforms them, but she is definitely involved.

Are there any champions that you agreed to never release?

Dovagedys: No. We hope to release every champion some day.

Whats your favorite ranked reward icon? this includes color difference from the ranks.

DanCast: Diamond Season of Plunder
Alas, I ended Plat that season (just like every season)

A large number of champions are based on their "lore" forms rather than translations of their LoL gameplay; what goes into deciding what to focus on for champions? Thresh has an ability much closer to his ingame whereas Karma is entirely about her lore rather than how she acts in gameplay.

Whisper: There are a number of things we tend to look at when focusing on the champion. What is their role in the set, what mechanics do we want to show off through the champion, are there any narrative/story beats we want to hit with them. Usually we try to find what is the version of this champion do we want to design, and then go from there.

when you design a champion, do you always have a primary archetype / deck in mind or do you intend multiple different uses for it? how important is champion versatility as opposed to the cohesiveness of its archetype?

Dovagedys: It varies for each champion. We want all champions to feel special. Some of them are designed with a very specific deck in mind, like Nautilus. Others are designed with multiple decks in mind, like Shen. And yet others are more general, like Twisted Fate. However, we do want every champion to have at least one deck they are best in.

In roughly 3 weeks I'm gonna start my enrolment in a game development degree. As someone who lives in Portugal, is there any way to work for Riot (specifically in the LoR team since that's my favorite Riot game) without moving to the US, while being an active member of the team and not just work in localization?

Leah: LoR development largely happens between our LA and Hong Kong offices. There are other offices where other development happens though. The best way is to check the careers page and see what listings are available for the office you're interested in.

Milk first or cereal first?

Whisper: Cereal first. ARE THERE PEOPLE THAT DO MILK FIRST?

If you had a truck what would you put in it ?

Leah: A smaller truck, of course.

I would like to ask , what is your current view on the success of LoR so far? Has the number of players met your initial expectations or do you feel like there is still an unused potential to lure in new players? As a relatively new player myself who loves the game to death, I feel like so far it hasn't got the attention it deserves so I'd love to know what's the perspective of you as Rioters on the matter.

Dovagedys: We are extremely proud of how many players have been enjoying LOR! We believe this is only the beginning and we hope to see more and more players joining the community over time.

Will there ever be a way to listen to the music of the boards before we buy them?

DanCast: Someday, yes I hope so. We have a lot of things we want to build and limited resources so we have to choose our projects with a lot of consideration. Since a lot of fans and creators preview content on video sites, we focus our efforts on more gameplay experiences for players.

What are your plans when a year from now comes and there are too many cards to balance? Will we have a similar thing to Hearthstone where sets from awhile ago will be unplayable in ranked?

Dovagedys: We want players to always be able to play with their favorite cards. We hope that our model for live balance will help players enjoy the cards they love. And we want to avoid situations where players aren't able to include the cards they love in their decks.

What's the funniest moment of friendly competition/bet/dare/general tomfoolery you've seen your colleagues in Riot do for fun during break-time?

DanCast: @Dovagedys still owes his team a rendition of a Taylor Swift song
Dovagedys: yikes @DanCast
Leah: We play a lot of games together on breaks and such. I had a friend try to meme me in a game of LoR by vile-feasting my unit that he was going to kill anyways. Unfortunately that unit was Scarmother Vrynna and the extra damage won me the game he would've won. I still tease him about it.

@Dovagedys I'm sorry, but I have to know the story behind you owing your team a TaySwift song.

Dovagedys: Honestly, it's a troll perpetrated by some devious people on my team. Once upon a time I was a singer. I'm also a gigantic Taylor Swift fan and I frequently utilize her songs, lyrics, images, and quotes in team communications. I don't really know/remember how the joke of me "owing the team" began.

At one point someone from the team said that they would look into more options for making the data about viable decks that you all see open to the public. Any updates on that? It's cool to know that there are regularly 20-30 viable competitive decks, but it's hard to see past the data that fansites offer so we the players only have ever a limited amount of insight into what's actually working for people.

Dovagedys: We do still plan on sharing more information around the meta, but we don't have an exact date yet.

What was the biggest emergent gameplay from the community that the team didnt foresee?

DanCast: Hello There was too strong of an emote to include in the starting 6

Lore question: In League, the only Yordle that has a tail is Gnar, and that makes sense due to him being ancient. But in LoR, we have Fae Bladetwirler, a Yordle that doesn't just have one tail, but multiple tails. Are tails on yordles a somewhat common thing nowadays or is it some rare special thing. Also are there any other tailed Yordles I should be aware of in the game already?

Dovagedys: Keep in mind that League only showcases the champions in Runeterra. Gnar is the only yordle champion with a tail, but there are so many yordles that exist in the world of Runeterra that are not champions and many of them have tails.

Finally, could we possibly have some place in the deckbuilder where we could see the card art and flavor text for everything else we can't maindeck? I wanna look at many celestial cards for description or lore reasons and I am never able to.

Dovagedys: As of Call of the Mountain there is a new filter option in the deck builder that will allow you to see the Celestial cards.

Though LoR has a slowly but surely growing competitive scene (e.g. DoR and serverwide tournaments), are there any plans to eventually have our counterpart to League's Worlds with splits and invitationals and everything?

Dovagedys: We hope to have esports some day, but right now we have been very focused on making the game as fun as possible. We are focused on listening and learning to the community to be sure we are making the right improvements.
We do hope to have in client tournaments and then eventually esports some day, but right now we don't have a specific date for them.

I would like to know how you would like to lead new players to the game, and if you are thinking of creating an official deck creation system on the LOR website, and if there will be a community deck system like on mobalitcks.

DanCast: Thank you for the thoughtful question. It's a problem space we think about, and we know deck creation is a challenging aspect for many players. Deck Bundles were one idea to give players something new they could use early. We don't want to repeat the work of our partners at Mobalytics, but we are thinking about ways to make it easier to bring friends into LoR.

Since the new patch i've had issue's with SOL'S level up. So when I ahve 20+ power and round ends Sol sometimes just will not level up at all, this has happned in a few of my games were i have had a board 20+ power and he would not level up, any plans to look into this bug?

Leah: I can't speak to the specifics of this bug. But as a neat tidbit about bugs in general: For all bugs they will go through some triage process, including being verified by QA for a consistent repro, heading to production where they decide how impactful the bug is, and finally through engineering where we will of course attempt to fix it. There's a bunch of steps that go in the finding and fixing bugs that makes it a fun process.

Do you have plans to bring PVE game modes? Perhaps an event where there is a boss with a gigantic life, of which the community will have to strive to defeat and win prizes.

Dovagedys: Personally, I would love it if we were able to eventually add some PVE and/or story game modes to LOR. It's something we talk about and hope that we can do at some point, but right now we don't have any specific release date for a PVE mode.

If you had a poro in real life, what would you name it?

Dovagedys: Snack

How did you deal with the constructive criticism that most card game fans gave to you from the start of when the game was released? Ccg fans like hearthstone or MTG had made their opinions on your game, so I wonder what your opinions are on such criticism that you've been receiving the past few months

Whisper: Constructive criticism is crucial for us to grow and improve the game. We always knew that initial impressions especially from CCG fans were going to be heavily rooted in other games, and that's a totally reasonable starting point. The hope is that as they play and learn more about LoR they're able to see the strengths of what makes the game great.
DanCast: One of the areas where LoR's first impression isn't as great is in our rewards (say for Ranked or Gauntlets). In other CCGs, competitive game modes often reward cards. In games where high rarity cards are very hard to get, those rewards look very valuable.
So if you just compared rewards like icons or XP to card packs or rare cards, it looks like our rewards aren't motivating. Our philosophy on more accessible cards makes it more challenging to come up with rewards here, and it may take a new player time to see how quickly their collection can grow through the roads and vault to appreciate that difference. We're working on future things we can use as rewards to help with this.

A sandbox mode would be incredibly useful to help teach new players and give new scenarios for "puzzle" challenges and the like. Is there any technical limitation that makes this mode impossible to make? Or is this entirely impossible?

Leah: There is some technical implications to this unfortunately. As far as "puzzles" such as tutorials go, I know they can take some scripting that is special circumstance, which makes it a large time investment.
As far as a sandbox mode goes, there's a few things: exposing the right cheats on non-internal builds, the impact of having potentially infinitely long game times, or what to do about crashes as people try to do things that wouldn't happen in a normal game. We'd also have to contemplate how we load cards into the game at random (Do we need to check against your inventory, are we unloading cards no longer in use appropriately, is this impacting your game performance, etc). So not something I would say is impossible, but would take a decent time investment.

Which poro is your favorite?

Dovagedys: Nimble Poro. She's totally awesome. Also during development Steve Rubin (Live Balance Design Lead) wrote a short song about Nimble Poro and I will never forget it.

Love you Riot (?) <--- Question :uwuHeart:

Leah: Oh my, uhm, thank you

Do you think Quinn is acheiving her themeatic fantasy right now? Regardless of power level, do you think she feels 'cool' as a champion?

Dovagedys: I think so. I love Quinn and I'm really happy with her design in LOR. Her level up is one of my favorites.

how much do you take expeditions into account when designing a card (and especially assigning rarity)

Whisper: They are a soft consideration when it comes to initial design of a card. We usually do a larger pass with Expeditions once we know the general shape of the archetype. Rarity is part of that pass, given rarity helps influence appearance rate.

What's your favorite thing about the player base of LoR? Least favorite? spill the tea

DanCast:

Favorite: The dedication to creating a lively, welcoming, and meaningful community space for fans of the game and helping it grow.
Second favorite: The love for Spirit Blossom Corina and recognizing her from the promo art
Least Favorite: I don't know about some of your emote meta hot takes...

Whisper:

Fave: Y'alls meme game is off the charts and I love it
Least: Not enough love and support for the best bot, Slotbot

Dovagedys:

My favorite thing is the overwhelming positivity of the LOR community. I have been playing games on the internet for a very long time and I have never seen so much positivity in a game community before. It's astounding to me. I am very humbled by and proud of the community we are all building for LOR.
My least favorite aspect is the hyperbolic language the community sometimes uses when talking about the metagame, segregating decks that have 52% win rate as playble or S tier and decks that have 50% win rate as tier 2, 3, or even unplayable. I think that language and thought pattern leads to the erroneous idea that there are a small number of decks in the LOR metagame. When the reality is that there are 20-35 decks that all have win rates between 47% and 53%.(edited)

Knowing that in today's time there is a pandemic in the world, how did you deal working from home into developing the game as time passes by?

Leah: The pandemic is definitely a hard thing to deal with. I feel pretty lucky myself that Riot does it's best to take care of us during this time. Since I'm at a computer all day for my job, I try to take some time after work (or sometimes during, shh) to take a walk or rest if I need to.
Also making sure to stay hydrated, get plenty of rest, do some cool new hobbies, and talk with people when I'm feeling down! Gotta keep up that strong mental energy.

can we please get an article on how the spell mana system came to be? (and more design articles in general pls) (and less broad pls, the champions article only had like 2 sentences per champion)

Whisper: That is a great question! No immediate promises, but one thing I personally want to do more is write more design articles for y'all. Knowing what parts of design you want to hear about helps a ton.

Was there ever a specific champion that you loved to main and play as in League of Legends that you wished was in LoR?

Whisper: I keep trying to sneak in Twitch, but the other designers keep too many traps down

2020.08.29 23:49 milkteaisreallygood Any suggestion for keeping up with classes?

I’m so overwhelmed.
I’m new to UT and all my classes are online and 90% are asynchronous (I didn’t have much choices). I have 5 classes, while it’s not too much, everything is everywhere and I’m struggling to keep my head up. It’s only been 3 days. It’s like trying to untie Christmas lights while in the dark. I have a physical planner but dates kept on changing and my white outs are running out. I want to try a virtual one but idk how that’ll go. Any suggestion of keeping everything in order is much appreciated!!!!!
Update: I'm so overwhelmed...in a good way this time!! I can't express how much I appreciate everyone being so supportive and helpful (I have advices to last me a life time lol). It really makes me feel like part of this community :). I am feeling SO much better now. I've got everything tamed and is so ready to work thru this semester! I see that there are people like me that are just as confused and frustrated as me, so I just want to gather together all the great suggestions so it's easier to view.
For me, it's the organization I'm stressed about. All the profs gave their own rules and x5 = mess. I was so stressed even looking at Canvas. I didn't know when or how to even start. I know if I don't get my shit together this semester is going to be hell, and it makes me even more anxious. Luckily, and thanks so those who recommended Notion, I can get everything under one website and it's so so so nice. I love it! Sorry Google Calendars but man Notion is so cute it just took away my heart. So yeah that's how I resolved my problem if anyone cares :)
SUGGESTIONS:
Lastly, I'm very sorry if I missed your advice, just know that I appreciate and love you for even taking time out of your day to guide a lost soul. This post might get too long if everything is on here so please do read the comments if you want more advices and encouragements. I hope this helps at least a little bit if you're lost as well. Again, thank y'all so much!!!

2020.08.28 10:21 M1NDFEEDER My "I don't know what to do on a Friday" post. This week: A very basic and probably badly worded post to explain what PAWS, CHS and the Pink Cloud are (and some other things) for those who have seen them mentioned but don't know what they are

This post is aimed more at the new members than the older ones, so by all means don't read any further if you've been here a while, it's a looooong ass post and no Earth shattering revelations, just a bit of information collected together.
So, when I wanted to quit weed I thought it would be a battle but once I'd got to a point that'd be it, I'd be over it and would just have to deal with odd cravings as if I'd given up cigarettes. If only...
I came here to Leaves and saw posts about the quit process and saw terms I'd never seen before and things that could happen that I didn't even know were possible so if you're about to quit or are early on in your quit, this post MAY be helpful.
The following is my attempt to explain: PAWS, CHS, The Pink Cloud, Melatonin, CBT, DBT and some bonus deluxe CD content 😏
What is PAWS? (Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome)
"The term PAWS was created to describe the cluster of ongoing withdrawal symptoms, which are largely psychological and mood-related, that can continue after acute withdrawal symptoms have gone away. Although post-acute withdrawal rarely involves aches and pains, nausea, cramping, headaches, or other physical symptoms, it can be just as intense as acute withdrawal and still puts a person at risk of relapse, as they may return to drug use in an attempt to stop the discomfort" (Source: American Addiction Centres)
So in other words, Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome can occur after a weed (or any other substance) user has quit their chemical of choice leading to a number of different issues even though the drug is no longer being used and so no chemical withdrawal is actually taking place.
In terms of weed, common symptoms of PAWS are insomnia, depression, anhedonia, brain fog, and others. The good thing is, PAWS does pass, however it can take a while.
As someone who suffers from PAWS I describe it as coming in waves, I'll be fine for days or weeks and then it'll return for a bit and then go again. I'm hoping it'll stop soon but I have prepared myself for potentially a long ride, so be it, that's still better than the alternative.
What is CHS? (Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome)
"Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome (CHS) is a condition that leads to repeated and severe bouts of vomiting. It is rare and only occurs in daily long-term users of marijuana." (Source: Cedars Sinai)
This appears to be a relatively new and fairly unknown side effect of using weed. Not all doctors seem to be aware of it and as it's a new thing not much is really known about it. What seems to help is hot showers. Yes really. Oh and you know, quitting the weed.
I'm pretty sure I had (or still have technically?) this. As an experienced smoker I hadn't vomited from smoking like rookies do for quite some time (we call it a whitey over here, your terms may vary) But then something changed. I'd go through spells of waking up and vomiting immediately. For days on end. Not that I couldn't stop (I'd stop when I got into the shower although I hadn't put 2 and 2 together back then...) but for maybe a week I'd wake up every day and vomit and then it'd stop for a while. Other people have it so bad they end up hospitalised. So for me, if this is happening to you, stop smoking. Seriously.
When I quit I was going through a spell of it. It's even less pleasant when you've already eaten nothing from going through withdrawals. I lost a lot of weight too. Back then I didn't have any weight to spare either. The good news, I haven't vomited since. Vomit free since mid Feb 2020. It's no Ted Moseby record but I'm still happy with it.
What is the "Pink Cloud?"
"Pink clouding, or pink cloud syndrome, describes a stage of early addiction recovery that involves feelings of euphoria and elation. When you’re in this phase, you feel confident and excited about recovery.
Think of it as a honeymoon phase, says Cyndi Turner, LCSW, LSATP, MAC, the co-founder and clinical director of Insight Into Action Therapy in Virginia.
The problem with pink cloud syndrome is that it doesn’t last forever, and coming out of this phase can sometimes have a negative impact on your recovery." (Source: Healthline)
I definitely experienced this. Man I was so elated when I quit weed! Early on I was so excited and looking forward to my brand new life as a former user and felt like I was on top of the world. That came to an abrupt end. I think it was around the day 40-50 mark, I can't remember exactly. Then reality kind of set in. Or PAWS. Ah, our good friend PAWS...
To me, the "Pink Cloud" is like a manic high after the soul crushing low of the withdrawals in the first days and weeks. But it does end. The cloud, well, clears. And I think it catches a lot of people out as they think that new high, that "the world is amazing" feeling is permanent, a bonus of newfound sobriety and when it stops people are shocked and lost and fall back into use as they feel like life ain't that great, life WAS better with weed. It's a trap. That is your addiction tricking you. Don't fall for it.
Think about it, if life WAS always that amazing without weed or chemical highs we'd have never got addicted, cos life would've already been sweet enough. That feeling of euphoria cannot be sustained forever and so it isn't really natural. As much as there's a dip after the cloud clears it does level out and will settle down again to a more sustainable level, life will feel good again, so don't relapse cos things dip for a while. Not. Worth. It. Keep going.
Melatonin. What is it and why should I avoid it?
Well if you've read the rules of this sub reddit you'll have noticed that other substances or supplements aren't to be discussed here as per rule number 6 however this supplement is an exception currently. I will explain what this is and why I think you should avoid it and suggest a better way of helping with insomnia which does not involve chemicals. I mean, we've had enough of messing with them already right?
"Melatonin is a hormone that occurs naturally in your body. It helps control your sleep patterns." (Source: NHS UK)
Over here (UK) Melatonin is prescription only and so we have to speak to doctors before getting it, and so with this in mind thinking about it, is it really sensible to take a supplement just because it's available to buy where you are to fix a temporary problem that can be worked on in other ways? Is adding more chemicals into the mix sensible especially given it can interfere with other medications you may be on? Keep this in mind before reaching for a packet or suggesting it as a solution to others and if you are still struggling to sleep after a while? Speak to your doctor.
So now I've said why you should avoid it I should give you an alternative right? That WAS the deal...
Credit goes to u/PotIsntAddict-ohcrap here, who I forever see posting here on Leaves to help others who can't sleep with a collection of tips which are natural ways of drifting off. An unsung hero of here for sure 👑
Please read their comment and then the post they link to for these tips, fixed em right up apparently 😉
Insomnia help
Less chemically type stuffs
So a common complaint or discovery or trap that people come across in recovery is that time thing. Smoking weed eats up a lot of time. So what the eff do you do now? Now you've stopped? And how do you deal with the problems that have appeared now you're no longer numb, spaced out and uncaring?
Hobbies. Hobbies help. Get a few. I recommend reading and exercise but whatever works for you. I digress...
Beyond that there may be some issues to work on. They may be the reason you ended up addicted to weed in the first place. And you know there's all that time going spare now so...
CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Theory) and how it may help
"Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of talking treatment which focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and behaviour, and teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems.
It combines cognitive therapy (examining the things you think) and behaviour therapy (examining the things you do)." (Source: Mind)
You may have used weed to numb or block things out. You may now have found that without weed all those problems you've been running away from are now suddenly right there in front of you. CBT allows people to gain skills and coping strategies to deal with this. Whether it be by speaking to a CBT practitioner or by working through it via workbooks or reading books on the subject it is possible to help yourself here.
Often recommended is "Feeling Good" by David Burns but I personally struggled with that book beyond chapter 4. I will get round to finishing it one day. The point is, where weed was the "problem fixer" there may be a need for a new one. Maybe worth working on a far more sensible one now there's all that time to fill...
DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy)
"Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of talking therapy. It's based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), but it's specially adapted for people who feel emotions very intensely.
What's the difference between DBT and CBT?
CBT focuses on helping you to change unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving. DBT does this too, but it differs from CBT in that it also focuses on accepting who you are at the same time. DBT also usually involves more group work than CBT. A DBT therapist will expect and encourage you to work hard to make positive changes." (Source: Mind)
As with CBT there are various different resources for DBT and so if this seems like something that may be suitable for you research the subject and find what works for you.
There are other things than CBT and DBT out there too, I've heard great things about SMART for instance but really, find what works for you.. Research, try a few things, ask around... We're all different and so what works for me may not for you. That's the fun of us human types.
Discord
I will take this opportunity to link to the Leaves Discord server too. At the moment it's open twice a day, (2 one hour sessions, although I believe it will be open more once the boss has done some coding type bits and added more moderators (or something, I'm not tech savvy)) and it's full of lovely humans and a canine robot who know what you're going through so by all means have a look, get some support and celebrate your wins. Or complain. I do that mainly 😳 Link for the server is here
And finally... Meditation
Why should I meditate?
Well, why shouldn't you? I mean think about it, it's free, it's a small time commitment and if you don't like it? Then you've lost little attempting it.
There are loads of different resources for meditation, however as we're on Leaves I'm going to link to a post on here from the founder and moderator, it's been up voted 3.9k times, so it must be half decent right? Meditation Post Credit to our faithful leader u/Subduction for the above post.
Right! That's me done, well done to anyone who got this far, thems some pile of words 😆
Happy Sober Friday everyone and have a wonderful weekend.
And, as always, stay strong 🤎

2020.08.27 00:36 Coddy2hottie Nevermets closing the distance on Saturday (Same Birthdays)

Hello everyone! So Saturday is the day we are finally meeting. I am super nervous and so is she. We are both afraid we won't like each other in person. A little back story. We ended up talking on a online dating site. She lives about 2 hours from me in the same county and is 6 years older . We have been talking since May .It started off super slow and started on the dating app. Moved to snap chat, then eventually started texting and video chatting. Throughout this whole time we have also played many hours squading up on Call Of Duty as well. Playing and talking for hours about life and laughing a ton while getting to know each other. All of our video chats have been magnificent. There is mutual attraction cause we both complement each other and flirt a ton. I sometimes can't contain myself when looking at her and talking. We literally have so much in common and the flow of our conversations have been like nothing I have ever experienced or will possibly ever experience again. Our sense of humor is the exact same and nothing it is never a dull moment.
The stuff we have in common literally blows me away just thinking of it and makes me question how on earth I started talking to this woman.
Here is a list.
Both have the same birthday (Born on the same day of the week due to a leap year) six years apart
Fans of the exact same NBA team.
Enjoy the same movies and sports. Baseball, college football, basketball and the ufc.
She is in the exact same car club as my dad. Just different chapters since its another town.
Same hobbies which include atvs, shooting guns and video games, both have taken Jiu Jitsu classes. We also own the same exact gun and the exact same holster.
Both are fanatics of mac and cheese
Both are somewhat shy and introverted
Both are good at Call of Duty. About 80 percent of the time we are battling for 1st and 2nd place on the leader board.
We both have scars on our faces from when we fell at young age. We live near a dormant volcano so there are lava rocks throughout our area. Anyway we both end up falling on our faces at the age of 2. We were sharing scar stories on video chat. You should have seen the look on her face when I said I fell on a lava rock and this is the scar.

So I thought I would share this. She will be coming over to my house due to all the places here are still closed due to Covid. She said she feels super comfortable with me. Also she knows the exact location of my house since she has been to the restaurant directly across the street from my place. So its not like its a strange foreign area to her. Sorry for rambling. Even though we are a few days away I can't contain myself. I am so nervous. Meeting someone like this is so special. The idea of fate and finding a soul mate was once a thing of the past for me due to some extremely bad break ups. I thought they were both stupid notions. I never wanted to get into a relationship again. For 6 years I have been single and just focused on myself. But in May I felt this feeling like I wanted to get back out there and date again. It might of been the quarantine that got me. But who knows. I absolutely adore this person and I hope this works out. Ughh I am so scared to death lol. Any thoughts or words of encouragement would be very appreciated.

Much Love!

2020.08.24 00:45 thabitchinquestion Eulogy

I thought if I was just a boy
that I could be just like a boy.
It would’ve been much easier.
Some people count their syllables.

Dylan did it in the mirror.
He’d be unrecognizable,
how he would stretch himself so thin
to taffy-string ribbons of skin—
—a walking work of origami.

I know what you must think:
Didn’t he die? Dylan is dead!
It’s true, I hanged him in the attic.
I sold his soul for sticks of gum
and let him pick the flavors.

Dylan deserved much better
than MacBook screens and Skype ringtones,
than how I’d left him, stranded
in camera lenses and encrypted thumb drives.

He deserved much better
than ladders written on the wrists
of men disguised as exit signs.
I hope to god you forget me,
and that the devil makes you useful.

Little Bit News #606

Ghost of Tsushima
https://preview.redd.it/blhfrxetxzh51.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=4ca4801161c52e17cb8b632643ee7644813c07c0
Orwell's Animal Farm
https://preview.redd.it/tl41ljfvxzh51.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=e3641546bdb785274e5418e42653c46f50756637
Apple
https://preview.redd.it/k633pinmwzh51.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=7f3b5111ab8a3e9eaa4ae0fe92faf0b17ac79ca3
Epic Games.
Battletoads
https://preview.redd.it/woszx75yxzh51.png?width=750&format=png&auto=webp&s=4c9e4b782af095bdfadfc342aec983d851b1cc2b
Видео - https://youtu.be/69zjmtoZzic
Студии Rare и Dlala показали почти 25 минут игрового процесса битемапа Battletoads с комментариями разработчиков. Выход для PC и Xbox One намечен на 20 августа этого года.

https://preview.redd.it/swcfraq0yzh51.png?width=616&format=png&auto=webp&s=a38ece95b8c567597065ba7952259fa3eb1f6d15
Видео - https://youtu.be/JXcCEWaDLWU
Студия Creative Assembly показала трейлер и видео с игровым процессом нового дополнения The Furious Wild для стратегии Total War: Three Kingdoms. Посвящено оно джунглям Южного Китая и попытке объединить воинственные наньманьские племена. Релиз DLC запланирован на 3 сентября.
Ремастер(ы) по Mass Effect ждать в октябре-ноябре? (слухи)
https://preview.redd.it/u23d55krwzh51.png?width=724&format=png&auto=webp&s=5197fcb66cd442e648f36cc4b822103b84f1d759
Firewatch
https://preview.redd.it/yi3iwqf2yzh51.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=c676dfed9a27c18ab1e1ac0277414227b19806be
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout
https://preview.redd.it/aly7mqz3yzh51.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=85a405eb60d4d39bb5493790b2c368746e156235
(Jon Paul Piques).
Дата выхода Baldur's Gate III в ранний доступ
https://preview.redd.it/zm0iihrbyzh51.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=be65992bce2ee589d5e5321be1af7fa180b228b9

https://preview.redd.it/unm9aj8dyzh51.png?width=900&format=png&auto=webp&s=d8fb0044f6560b5c79a73b76c7bf1dca6511521e
https://preview.redd.it/10lnkazfyzh51.png?width=910&format=png&auto=webp&s=a5b7b07bf421dae7158ceb4dd60507549391e7f2
Nintendo Switch.
The Battle for Middle-earth на Unreal Engine 4
https://preview.redd.it/tymtijvhyzh51.png?width=750&format=png&auto=webp&s=c9cbd739bfa10868752cefa154692e5868dc718f
https://preview.redd.it/u8d3168jyzh51.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=7b62558033cfe8060c55e7ad080fb592c5584127

Студия Mega Cat и издательство Graffiti Games выпустили в релиз на PC roguelite экшен-платформер с элементами RPG Bite the Bullet. В Steam у проекта смешанные отзывы (54% из 11 обзоров положительные), а цена составляет 288 рублей с учетом скидки 20%.
Релиз Kill It With Fire

Mortal Shell
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars
Nintendo Switch.

TWITCH - https://www.twitch.tv/little_bit_hast
